The Department of Political Science at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 1-year fulltime postdoctoral position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a research project on the causes, consequences and potential counter-strategies related to online political hostility.

The starting date is January 1, 2024, or subject to mutual agreement.
 

The research project

The position is part of the ROPH project (Research on Online Political Hostility), funded by 15.7 million DKK by the Carlsberg Foundation. The ROPH project seeks to identify the causes, consequences and potential counter-strategies related to online political hostility and gathers researchers from the fields of political psychology, evolutionary psychology, radicalization research, media science and physics. The project includes funding for research assistants, data collection, traveling and workshops.
 

Job description

The qualified candidate is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the project by being involved in analyzing and publishing on the basis of an already collected experimental study focused on identifying the psychological consequences (and relevant mechanisms) of discussing politics on social media relative to face-to-face discussions.  

The position is research-oriented, but may involve teaching assignments.

Your qualifications

Applicants are expected to hold a PhD in relevant areas within political science. In addition to an interest in conducting collaborative research within the focus area of the project, applicants must demonstrate experience with the study of studying psychological mechanisms related to hostility, the ability to analyze experimental data, have an excellent command of spoken and written English, and have experience with publishing in international, peer-reviewed journals.

Terms of employment

The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
