One or two, three-year fulltime postdoc positions are available from September 1st, 2024, in the laboratory of group leader Taro Kitazawa at the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE, Nordic EMBL partnership) and the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University. The project is a part of a research program on epigenetic and transcriptional basis of neuroplasticity in memory formation, supported by the European Research Council (ERC) and Lundbeck Foundation.
Starting date and duration of employment
The positions are for three years, starting September 1st, 2024, or soon thereafter.
Tasks
The positions will mainly focus on application of cutting-edge genomics technologies (e.g. bulk/single-cell RNS-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, 3C-seq) to investigate memory formation using the mouse as the model system. Experience of bioinformatics analysis is preferred.
Responsibilities and authority
The candidates will carry out the project under the supervision of PI (Taro Kitazawa). The candidates should be ambitious and self-motivated in directing and taking ownership of internationally competitive research projects.
The positions will also involve active interactions with other lab members and research networks in the Aarhus University including the Bioinformatics Facility, and the DANDRITE center of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine.
Academic qualifications
- The candidate should hold Ph.D. degree, or should obtain it before the starting date.
- The candidate should have experience of genomics experiments (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq) and bioinformatics analysis. The candidate should have at least one (co) first author paper related to this topic.
- Experience of mouse genetics and neuronal circuit may be plus.
- Fluent communication in English is required.

Deadline

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
