Applications are invited for a 1-year postdoc position in the field of RNA biology and RNA modifications at the Department of molecular biology and genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark, with the aim of developing new RNA-targeted medicine.
Expected start date and duration of employment
This is a 1-year postdoc position with possibility of extension up to 4 years. Starting date is expected to be in the first half of 2024 (February-May).
Job description
You will be contributing to establish new ways of targeting RNA with a therapeutic aim. You will be working primarily with RNA purification and analysis techniques in tissue culture with a high level of independence. The work will be integrated with projects of other lab members at the PhD student and postdoc level.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology biophysics or similar. Experience with teaching and dissemination of research results will be considered a plus. All work in the lab is conducted in English, and high proficiency in English at a professional level is expected.

The department of molecular biology and genetics hosts researchers from diverse disciplines from protein structure over plant biology and to RNA molecular characteristics and function. The lab of Ulf Andersson Vang Ørom focuses on the molecular function and structure of non-coding RNA and RNA modifications in human models systems.

Deadline

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
