The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a special consultant within stem cell/organoid/disease modelling as per 1 February 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a permanent full-time position.

Your job responsibilities

As special consultant, your primary tasks are continuously advancing the stem cell platform for disease modelling through new technologies and project ideas. Maintain an awareness of cutting-edge technological advances and scientific knowledge to improve project performance. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues. You will assist several research projects in project management and execution.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Stem cell culture, differentiation, manipulation with focus on generating CNS neurons
  • Development of 3D/organoid culture system for disease modelling
  • Research support within specific areas
  • Project work
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration

You will report to the Head of Department Thomas G. Jensen.

Your competences

You have a strong background within stem cell biology and experience with iPSC and other in vitro models in the neurodegenerative disease areas .  

Qualifications

  • A PhD in cell biology, stem cell biology or a similar field.
  • Experience with iPSC experimental models is required.
  • Experience in 3D/organoid culture systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility, and a strong ability to work well in a cross-functional team.
  • An analytical aptitude of devising innovative scientific or technical solutions.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.

We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

We expect to conduct interviews in early January. You may be given a case in connection with the interviews.

Terms of employment and pay are regulated by the collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and academics in the state (AC).
