BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

Applicants are invited for a PhD scholarship at Graduate School of Technical Sciences, Aarhus University, Denmark, within the Electrical and Computer Engineering programme. The position is available from 1 November 2023 or later.

Title:
Safe light-fidelity transmitter (SLiFi)

Research area and project description:
The SLiFi project aims at developing a technology that can transmit information with light in a specific range of the ultraviolet, the so-called far-UVC. This type of light kills viruses efficiently but cannot penetrate eyes and skin so it is safe for people to be around. This information has been discovered recently and far-UVC light sources have been used for germicidal applications, but not yet for communications. We will design, fabricate, and demonstrate a new type of far-UVC laser that is compact, power-efficient, and affordable. We will investigate the modulation properties of this laser (amplitude, phase, and polarization).

  • Project description. For technical reasons, you must upload a project description. Please simply copy the project description above and upload it as a PDF in the application.

Qualifications and specific competences:
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or other relevant discipline.

Place of employment and place of work:
E.g.: The place of employment is UVL A/S, and the place of work is partly at their facility at Søren Frichs Vej 40E, st., 8230 Aarhus, and partly Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aarhus University at Finlandsgade 22, 8200 Aarhus.

Since it is an Industrial PhD project, the Industrial PhD candidate will be employed in the company and enrolled at Graduate School of Technical Sciences (Aarhus). The Industrial PhD candidate is expected to split the time equally between the company and the university, i.e. work equally in both places – the actual scheduling will be decided within the framework of the project.
