The Nano Energy Materials Research Group at the Department of Chemistry and iNANO, Aarhus University is seeking a candidate for a two-year AC-TAP position.

The position is available from 1 August 2024 or as soon as possible hereafter.


Job description/research project/research area


The candidate will support: 1) advanced synthesis using Schlenk line techniques and mechano-chemistry, 2) advanced X-ray data acquisition and analysis using Rietveld methods and ab initio structural analysis, and 3) advanced electrochemical and materials characterization of electrodes and electrolytes.


Your profile


  • The candidate must hold a PhD in solid-state chemistry and/or electrochemistry.
  • Experience in advanced inorganic synthesis combining solvent-based methods, Schlenk line techniques, mechano-chemistry, and solid-gas reactions is needed.
  • The candidate must have a strong background in solid-state battery assembly and electrochemical characterization. In particular, experience with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and transference number measurements is required.
  • The candidate must also have a strong background in crystallography, powder diffraction, also experimental work conducted at synchrotron facilities, e.g. in operando battery characterization.
  • The candidate must be able to support advanced data analysis using Rietveld refinement as well as ab initio structure solution using ‘direct space methods’.
  • The candidate must have strong skills in oral and written English.

The Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University (www.chem.au.dk) is one of the leading European chemistry departments with a broad research program. It has a permanent staff of ~30 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD-students and postdocs and around 400 students.

The Nano Energy Materials Research Group is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) (www.inano.au.dk) as well as the Aarhus Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT) (www.imat.au.dk). iMAT integrates a diverse range of basic and applied materials research areas across departments and centers and thereby strongly contributes to solving some of the Grand Challenges of modern society.
