About the research project
The Angiogenesis and Inflammation group is led by Associate Professor Joanna Kalucka. Our team is dynamic, diverse and international. Our research aims to uncover the fundamental mechanisms by which blood vessels interact with their tissue microenvironment and adapt their properties in response to inflammation, including in obesity and cancer.
You will join a multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of academia and clinical research, with access to state-of-the-art technologies such as light-sheet microscopy, advanced flow cytometry, and other advanced OMICs approaches (Chromium, Visium, CyTOF, etc.). Additionally, you will benefit from our team's expertise in animal surgery and clinical sample processing. We are looking for candidates with exceptional experimental skills, a passion for discovery, and the ambition to push the frontiers of scientific research.
Your job responsibilities
As Postdoc in our group, your position is primarily research-based, with the possibility of engaging in teaching activities. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.
Join our team and, building on our recent findings (e.g. AlZaim et al., 2024), develop your own research project on endothelial cell dysfunction in proinflammatory conditions. Your aim will be to uncover new regulatory mechanisms driving endothelial dysfunction and angiocrine signaling. This role provides hands-on experience with in vitro assays, in vivo murine models, and patient sample collection and processing, using advanced techniques to simulate vascular activation and inflammation. Collaborate with a dynamic team of lab members and external experts, gaining essential skills to advance your research
You will report to Associate Professor Joanna Kalucka.
Your competence:
You have academic qualifications at PhD level for example within the following areas molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology or closely related disciplines.
We expect you to have:
- Extensive cell culture experience including primary cells handling (e.g., endothelial cells, adipocytes, macrophages, lymphocytes, and/or fibroblasts)
- Experience with working with mouse models (e.g., tumor inoculation, measurements, drug treatments, standard dissections and surgery)
- A proven scientific track-record, a thorough understanding of vascular biology and inflammation, and preferentially tumor and/or adipose tissue biology.
- Your experimental skills probably cover cell-based assays, immunoassays biochemical and gene expression analyses
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
In order to be assessed as qualified for a Postdoc position, you must meet these academic criteria.
Shortlisting will be used.
