The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Laboratory Technician within protein chemistry as per 1 July 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a permanent full-time position.

Your job responsibilities
As Laboratory Technician, your primary tasks are sample preparation, experimental set-up and lab management related to organization, ordering and routine equipment maintenance. You contribute to the academic environment through teaching of techniques to junior and senior lab members and analysis of results. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Protein sample preparation for protein mass spectrometry based proteomics, including but not limited to: extraction and lysis of proteins from different types of samples including tissue, urine and cultured cell lines
- Protein and peptide quantification using commercial assays
- Chemical labeling such as tandem mass tag (TMT) labeling, and sample cleanup
- Sample preparation and analysis of samples by western blotting
- Protein purification using batch and column based methods
- Routine maintenance of HPLC and mass spectrometry equipment (after training)
- Lab maintenance, including ordering of reagents, updating protocols etc.
You will report to Professor Robert A Fenton, Biomedicine South, 3 Wilhelm Meyers Alle, 8000 Aarhus C.
Your competences
You have a background within protein chemistry and experience with protein analysis and preparation of sample for mass spectrometry. Experience with independently operating and maintaining high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) instruments and orbitrap mass spectrometers are considered a distinct advantage. Ability to handle large cohorts of samples in an organized way and meet specific deadlines are required. The ability to want to learn new techniques quickly and efficiently with understanding are necessary.
As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
