BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

The Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG), Aarhus University is currently seeking a motivated Postdoc to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing projects in the areas of genetic analysis and breeding value estimation for feed efficiency related traits in dairy cattle. The position is for 2 years of employment and there are possibilities for extension up to a maximum of 4 years if the candidate is considered qualified and sufficient funding is available. The position begins on 1st August 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position

At QGG, we are leading research on genetic analysis and breeding value estimation, particularly focusing on feed efficiency and climate-related traits in dairy cattle. Our ongoing projects aim to integrate these crucial traits into routine genetic evaluations for improved breeding outcomes.
The primary responsibility of the selected candidate will involve conducting genetic analyses of feed efficiency data to estimate breeding values, thereby enhancing the breeding goals for dairy cattle. Working collaboratively within our team and with external research partners, the candidate will contribute to ongoing projects focused on feed efficiency and methane emission traits in dairy cattle.

The candidate must have

  • Ph.D. degree in quantitative genetics, animal breeding, statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis of genetic data related to feed efficiency in dairy cattle and the ability to develop new genetic models.
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages, such as R, Python, or Perl.
  • Involvement in international networks engaged in dairy cattle efficiency research will be advantageous.
  • A strong work ethic and the desire to become an independent researcher.
  • A proven track record of scientific writing, demonstrated by journal publications.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with industry stakeholders.
