Applicants are invited for a PhD fellowship/scholarship at Graduate School of Technical Sciences, Aarhus University, Denmark, within the Civil and Achitectural Engineering programme. The position is available from 01 November 2023 or later.
Title:
Algorithms for digital twins of offshore wind parks
Research area and project description:
A Digital Twin combines a physical system and its simulation model(s) with data exchange in between. The physical system is equipped with sensors, which, combined with simulation models, enable the estimation of unobserved parameters (model updating) or unmeasured quantities (virtual sensing and loading estimation).
This Ph.D. project aims to identify a pool of algorithms for model updating, virtual sensing, and loading estimation that are suitable for creating digital twins of offshore wind parks. Therefore, the Ph.D. project develops at the interface between the modeling of dynamical systems, system identification, and uncertainty quantification.
The project will be hosted at the Civil and Architectural Engineering Department of Aarhus University within the research group of Prof. Giuseppe Abbiati. Application case studies will be developed within the projects in collaboration with relevant industrial partners.
Project description (½-4 pages). This document should describe your ideas and research plans for this specific project. If you wish to, you can indicate an URL where further information can be found.
