The Center for Integrated Materials Research at Aarhus University (iMAT) invites applications for a position as center manager. The position is full-time and is for a fixed-term (24 months) starting on 1 November 2024 or as soon as possible.
 

Job description

The iMAT center organizes and coordinates collaborative efforts within material science across the engineering (ENG) and natural science (NAT) faculties at Aarhus University. In the position as center manager you are expected to be involved in direct contact to a large number of research groups and industries active in materials research, where you will work independently and act as liason and network facilitator.  The daily work also involves some administrative tasks together with research support and coordination activities at the iMAT Center.

Among the main tasks are:

  1. Assist the center management with reporting, communication and organization of meetings.
  2. Point of contact for the network project “Motorvej for Materialeviden”, where you will be responsible for communication, meetings researchers and knowledge transfer from Aarhus University to network hub.
  3. Assist with fundraising efforts and coordination of iMAT researchers and activities.
  4. Responsible for website information, outreach material and organization of educational activities.
 

Your qualifications 

We are looking for a candidate with a scientific background and with good communication and organizational skills. You work independently and have a keen interest in developing network activities within the fast-moving field of materials science. The position involves sparring and knowledge exchange among diverse natural science and engineering research groups represented in iMAT. To be successful, you will need to be able to understand general aspects of materials science and engineering research, and independently develop and drive networking activities relevant to iMAT. The ideal candidate would possess a natural science or engineering background as M.Sc./M.Eng. or PhD/Postdoc within a materials science-related discipline. Experience with outreach activities and/or industry collaboration will be seen as a plus. The proficiency in English writing and speaking is essential.

The Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT) is a strategic initiative at the Faculties of Science and Technology at Aarhus University. The iMAT network consists of more than 45 research groups and operates across a diverse range of basic and applied materials research often with significant contributions to solving some of the Grand Challenges of modern society. iMAT is administratively placed under iNANO (www.inano.dk) at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. iNANO is a major research and education center based at Aarhus University and in possession of state-of-the-art infrastructure across disciplines. The iMAT center undertakes interdisciplinary research in materials science and technology involving scientists from the fields of nanoscience, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering. iMAT offers a dynamic research environment with many industrial, national and international collaborators.
