BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

A post-doctoral position focusing on sea spray aerosols, their atmospheric ageing, and ability to act as seeds for cloud formation is available at Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University starting June 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for 2 years.

This work will be carried out within the framework of the Horizon Europe Cluster 5 project CleanCloud and in relation to the Center for Chemistry of Clouds at Aarhus University.
The importance of sea spray aerosol for aerosol-cloud interactions is expected to increase as anthropogenic aerosol emissions decrease and we enter a post-fossil-world.
CleanCloud, aims to quantify and understand regional and temporal effects of processes related to aerosol-cloud interactions and how they will evolve in the transition to the post-fossil regime.

The post doc project will focus on the generation and ageing sea spray aerosol using the AEGOR sea spray simulation tank and the atmospheric simulation chamber AURA. State of the art instrumentation including scanning particle mobility particle sizers (SMPS), high-resolution time-of-flight aerosol mass spectrometry (HR-TOF-AMS), proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-TOF) and a CCN counter will be used. More information about the laboratories is available here.

The project will be carried out in a dynamic, ambitious, and interdisciplinary environment in close collaboration with collaborators at Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Stockholm University and will link to activities in the Center for Chemistry of Clouds at Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University.

The place of work is Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, Langelandsgade 140, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference

If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline. Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
