Are you interested in Construction management and can you contribute to the development of the project Efficient Construction Sites? Then the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering invites you to apply for a 0,5-year research assistant position.
 

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a 0,5–year position from 10.07.2024 or as soon as possible.
 

Job description

The research assistant will work on mainly on the Efficient Construction research project, but partially also on other related research projects.

The “Efficient Construction” project is funded by RealDania and is targeting demonstration of methods to improve on-site productivity with up to 10%

The tasks of the research assistant will mainly be:

  • On-site data collection through work sampling, location tracking, observations, interviews, etc.
  • Communicating with project stakeholders
  • Preparing data sets for analysis and also do data analytics
  • Assisting in writing scientific papers
  • Documentation in form of research protocols, white papers, and reports.
Dissemination activities for industry, both internally and externally for the project and also academically at conferences.


Your profile


Applicants should hold a Master’s Degree in Construction Management and Engineering or similar.

The following experiences and skills are expected:
  • Experience in carrying out work sampling studies
  • Experience with tracking technologies for construction workers
  • Publication experience both with academic reports and scientific papers
  • Experience from construction sites
  • For personal skills you are self-working, detailed, and can communicate with construction workers
 

Who we are

The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering undertakes engineering research and education within architectural, construction, design, environmental, and structural engineering disciplines in close collaboration with other departments at the University (e.g., mechanical, electrical, computer, civil, architectural, chemical and biological engineering). The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with many national and international collaborators from academia and industry.

Both projects are led by Prof. Søren Wandahl and his research group on Lean Construction. The research group focuses on how to optimize and make efficient and sustainable construction processes. We are currently running a number of research projects in the field, and are also responsible for four courses on both the bachelor and master level.

Deadline

Application procedure

Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range


Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
