The Department of Mathematics at Aarhus University seeks candidates for an Associate Professor/Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in statistics. We, in particular, welcome candidates with a research interest in methodological aspects of applied statistics.The position is open from 1 August 2024. The Stochastic Group at the Department of Mathematics has 13 permanent faculty members covering both applied and theoretical aspects of probability, statistics, data science and optimization, with the Department as a whole having 38 permanent staff members.
The Department has a strong international profile in probability theory and various areas of statistics, as well as close ties to a variety of research groups at the university, and the Department houses an applied Statistics Laboratory. - Participate in and drive research through international and local collaboration.
- Teach and develop statistics courses.
- Supervise students at all levels from Bachelor to PhD.
- Build and sustain a research group through external funding.
- A typical teaching load of 4-5 hours of lectures per week during the semester, plus project supervision.
- Administrative support and professional guidance for submitting grant applications.
- A positive and international work environment with a flat hierarchy.
- Subsidized preschool child care and a free education system from primary school up to university level.
- Universal health insurance as a resident of Denmark, including family members officially residing in Denmark.
- Five weeks paid holiday per year.

Natural Sciences Tenure Track

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
